Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about why people do the things they do. Your “why” is the driving force behind every decision you make. While studying for my Primal Mobility certification, I came across an idea that stuck with me: Motivation gets you started, but discipline keeps you going.
That’s true—but how do we actually discover our why? And, as a gym owner, how can I truly understand my clients’ why so I can help them stay disciplined, focused, and excited about their goals?
Recently, I heard about someone who joined a nutrition program and lost 50 pounds. When asked if they’d recommend it, they said, “No.” Surprising, right? Their reason: they had joined to connect with a coach on a personal level. Instead, they just got recipes and macros. Their main goal—connection—wasn’t met, so the program didn’t feel like a success to them.
It made me think about our CrossFit community. Every month, new faces walk through our doors, and I’m thrilled because I know CrossFit can change their lives. When I see members hitting PRs, losing weight, and getting stronger, I feel proud of the work we’re doing. But here’s the thing—if I’m not checking in to see if their why has changed, I might be missing the mark. That could mean they lose motivation, and eventually, drift away from CrossFit altogether.
So here’s my promise to you: I want to know your real reason for being here. I want to make sure you get what you came for—every single time you step into class. Whether you’ve been here for years or are just thinking about joining, let’s talk about your why.
Why did you join Celebration CrossFit—or why are you considering it? Let’s figure it out together, so we can make sure you stay happy, healthy, and crushing goals for the next five years… and beyond.
